How I Make My Fictional Characters
I make my fictional characters very "deep". I usually spend a day and a half of sporadic work on a character. There are several steps to it.
The first thing I do is fill out a 100+ question form that I made, based off of various ones I found on the internet already free for the taking. There was no way that I was gonna go with all the 50 question tests out there [to quote someone I know, "Oh, yeah, because of course 50 questions just isn't near enough!]
Anyway, the next thing is the Mary Sue test; a Mary Sue (or Gary Stu) is a too-cardboard, too-perfect character, and even if you think yours isn't one it's a really good idea to do it anyway.
Then I take the MBTI test for them to get a better idea of how their brain works. And then, I find or make a picture of them (just for my personal use) and then I have myself a fully developed, realistic character.
I made The Ultimate Character Creation/Development Form out of all that, and I just shared it with a couple of people I know, and used it for myself. But I have decided to share it with you people, and maybe a writer will thank me for it. :)
Click the "Download File" button on the file below to download the PDF. You can just copy and paste the extremely long and useful mess into your favorite editor, (I prefer Evernote as I can make a notebook for each book and organize all the stuff nicely).
You can preview it below, but to use it please download it. :)
