Writing About Horses Is Hard...
And it definitely is harder if you know nothing about them.
So for once I'll be helpful (lol okay maybe for twice) and share with you my compiled horse resources, which should be helpful to fellow writers.
I'm pretty sure I'll keep finding more. Maybe if you're lucky I will update this page someday. :) Bwa haha.

Blue Sue ~ riding, writing, and writing about riding
A blog full of helpful posts by a real life writer and "horse person". She wrote the book "33 Mistake Writers Make About Horses" (which is worth buying by the way, as I did. It's cheap on Amazon, and you can get it for any E-book format, almost).
Fantasy Horse Stable
A blog where they post about horses in their stables. One of the posters is the same lady who has the blog above and wrote the book. It's not been posted on for a while but there's lots of horses for you to chose from. They invite you to take as much or as little from any horse's profile and do what you like.
HORSE SENSE A Writer's Guide To Horses
I first found this website before I even actually owned a computer. I just had this tiny, really really old Android tablet that took like 10 minutes to load anything. So I got on there and was trying to find out some stuff about horses, and this webpage came up. I've never found out why it's a sub-domain of ancestry.com, seeing as they have nothing to do with horses, but the main thing is that it exists. It goes into great detail, very helpful.
Writing About Horses ~ A Word Or Two Of Advice
A helpful blog post about horses and writing about them by a rider. All questions get answers in the comments.... I should know as I've bugged them myself a few times.
Equine Coat Color
A basic article on Wikipedia.... can be helpful.
Horse Markings
Another basic article on Wikipedia... can be helpful.
Fun Horse Names
If you're writing about horses and have no access to them in real life, their names are the LEAST of your worries, but it still might be a good resource.
Horse Gates and Riding/Writing Blunders
A helpful blog post about how a horse moves and how to not make a fool out of yourself when writing horses. Written by a horse writer herself!
Horse Breeds Index
A by-letter organized list of horse breeds. Helpful for picking a breed and learning about it.
How To Take Care Of Your Horse in 9 Steps
A WikiHow article on the caring of a horse. Its validity is not certain, but it did help me a little bit.
Three Ways To Ride A Horse
Another WikiHow article, this time about how to do the actual riding part. I must say the pictures are a little creepy in places, though.
The Mustang Breed
Since they're a popular breed [I'm even trying to write a story with one) Here's a nice page about them. There's a link to the other horse breeds at the bottom of that same page too.
Exercising Your Horse
You need to know the right way for your characters to handle your horse's exercise, so here's a nice article on it!
Horse Personality Randomizer | Random.org
The horse personality randomizer is an amazing tool for people like us who know nothing about horse personalities, written by some horsey people. It requires opening Random.org in a new tab otherwise, so go ahead and open both.
More Realistic Horses And Their Care And Maintenance
A HUGE and helpful article on horses and what to do with them.
The Random Horse Generator
Generate a horse's looks. You'll need to glance at the previous link, by the same person, to understand the terms in the generated text.
